The 8XTi cabinet is the most compact coaxial model of the L-ACOUSTICS® Architectural Series and
operates on a frequency bandwidth of 65 Hz to 20 kHz. This response can be lowered to 32 Hz with
the addition of the SB18i subwoofer.
The 8XTi enclosure contains a 1.5’’ diaphragm compression driver coaxially-loaded (for HF directivity
control) by an 8’’ low frequency transducer in a bass-reflex tuned enclosure. The internal passive
crossover network uses proprietary third order filters. The linearization and protection of the
transducers is defined by the drive parameters contained in the amplified controllers.
The coaxial transducer arrangement produces a 100° axi-symmetric directivity output along with a
smooth tonal response free of any secondary lobes over the entire frequency range.
The wedge-shaped and streamlined cabinetry, its rigging and colour options make the 8XTi suited
to the permanent installation applications where visual constraints require a discreet integration and
colour-matching according to architect specifications.
Made of high grade Baltic birch plywood, the cabinet features 4 M6 inserts for Omnimount® 30.0
series fixtures and can be either mounted with the complementary pole-mount socket EMBi or
the ETR8XTi bracket for flown applications. The 8XTi is driven by the L-ACOUSTICS® amplified
controllers in the following modes:
• ‘‘FULL RANGE’’ mode for standalone use of 8XTi at nominal bandwidth
([8XT_FR], [8XT_FI] or [8XT_MO] presets)
• ‘‘HIGH-PASS’’ mode with 100 Hz high-pass filter to possibly associate
the complementary SB18i subwoofer (same presets as above with ‘‘_100’’ extension)
• ‘‘HYBRID’’ mode for hybrid configurations featuring the complementary SB18i
subwoofer ([8XT_SB18] preset).
For each mode a distinction is drawn between [FRONT], [FILL] and [MONITOR] presets as they
respectively match front of house, distributed applications and half-space loading operating conditions. The
performances of the 8XTi enclosure depend upon the choice of preset and physical system configuration.
